Do you have Self-Esteem or self-esteem?

In the personal and spiritual development field, there is much talk about the importance of having high self-esteem. There is considerable emphasis placed on increasing our self-esteem through the use of positive affirmations and self-talk, reframing negative thoughts about our issues into positive ones and using success in our chosen endeavours to guarantee high self-esteem. In the Oxford Dictionary self-esteem is defined as “confidence in one’s own worth or abilities; self-respect.” These seem to be an essential ingredients for life. It follows that those with high self-esteem feel better about themselves, are more confident and assertive, and always do well in life.
